Vic's Bakehouse is a small artisan bread bakery located in Ferrymead, Christchurch, New Zealand. We are committed to baking high-quality bread using traditional bread-making techniques, such as allowing time for the dough to ferment naturally with minimal yeast and hand molding all bread.
Sam Ellis has been working with flour and water for the best part of his life. With years spent in bakery kitchens and every other second fixating over the art of baked goods, he decided to stay up late one night in November 2013 to hand-roll, boil and bake bagels. They were wheeled in boxes to the Christchurch Farmers’ Market the following morning. It didn’t take long for the market gig to boom into the full-blown bread biz it is today. Nowadays, Grizzly Baked Goods is made up of a team of eight bakers, including Sam’s wife Sara, specialising in real sourdough bread, pastries, donuts and – of course – bagels. Each week, countless dozens of baked goods are delivered to cafés, restaurants, caterers and bread-lovin’ homes (order your very own artisan sourdough here or check out which local eateries are stocking Grizzly here).
LeBakermen Cafe and Bakery is a bakery and cafe which specialises in French inspired baked goods, creating familiar dishes with an added flair. Everything is made fresh onsite daily. The owner, Will has travelled to different places to collect inspiration from cafes from Japan, Australia, Europe and New Zealand, to find what customers would like best. We believe in only using the finest ingredients in our food and drinks. LeBakermen Cafe and Bakery has a big passion for providing quality coffee - with Havana Coffee Works supplied beans, we also provide single origin soft brew coffee.
For each seasonal event we have special products on sale. We have hot cross buns and Easter novelty biscuits packs at Easter time. At Christmas we have Xmas cakes, Xmas mince pies, brandy snaps, Xmas novelty biscuits for the kids, shortbread and other Xmas goodies. We have spooky Halloween cookies on the 5 A welcoming environment with excellent customer service, a wide selection of affordable food, matched with delicious top of the range coffee and teas and easy convenient parking. Kiwi Owned & Operated Ma Baker are not just famous for our huge variety of filled rolls and sandwiches, crafted from our own in house freshly made breads, but we are well known for our extensive range of hot pies and savouries, sticky buns, pastries, turnovers, and slices.
Totally Gluten Free Bakery was established in October of 2006. While baking in several different bakeries, Wendy realised there was a growing need for an exclusive gluten free bakery. Opening up the first store on Worcester street was the begining of Wendy's dream and quickly expanded by taking over 3 other shops in the same block to create the original plant. Lori came on board in late 2010 and they continued the dream by taking over the Gingerbread Man on Blenheim Road On 22nd February 2011 at 12.51pm a 6.3 magnitute earthquake hit Christchurch, Worcester Street was completly damaged but thankfully no-one was hurt. Luckily Wendy and Lori had purchased the Blenhiem Road plant to work out of, so, they were able to merge both the original team with the new, and continue to service their loyal customer base through a difficult time.

I have over twenty years experience as a baker, practising and perfecting my craft at some of Christchurch's best establishments such as Under The Red Verandah, The Vault, and the Canterbury Cheesemongers.
